Though a fool may associate with a wise man all his life, he doesn’t comprehend the truth 

just as a spoon cannot taste the soup. 

Though a discerning person may associate with a wise man only for a moment, 

he understands the truth quickly, just as the tongue tastes the soup.

어리석은 자는 한평생을 두고 어진 이를 가까이 섬길지라도 진리를 깨닫지 못한다. 마치 숟가락이 국맛을 모르듯이.

지혜로운 이는 잠깐이라도 어진 이를 가까이 섬기면 곧 진리를 깨닫는다. 혀가 국맛을 알듯이.
